The WIIT Charitable Trust scholarship program is designed to provide financial assistance to further educational objectives of women who are interested in international development, international relations, international trade, international economics, or international business. Winners receive a scholarship award of $1,500 and a free one-year membership to WIIT. Scholarships are awarded to one female undergraduate and one female graduate student during each scholarship period. Applications for the Fall 2016 semester will be accepted until March 15, 2016 and applications for the Spring 2017 semester will be accepted until July 15, 2016. The application must include a 3-5 page essay on the following topic: Discuss the following statement: “The loosening of trade and travel restrictions with Cuba represents significant changes in the US-Cuba trade relations.” • Briefly describe the history of US-Cuba diplomatic and trade relations between 1960 and 2010. • Describe the changes that have occurred in US-Cuba diplomatic and trade relations since 2010. • In your opinion, what do these changes represent in US-Cuba trade relations? • Provide your opinion on the economic, social and political ramifications of moving towards open trade with Cuba.
