Trade Talk on The Trade Promotion Authority (TPA)

The Legislative Initiatives Section hosted a Trade Talk with Angela Ellard Staff Director & Chief Trade Counsel, House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade The Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), or “fast track” trade legislation, would allow the President to submit trade deals to Congress for a straight yea or nay vote without the consideration of any amendments and it is considered critical for the implementation of negotiated international trade agreements. The last TPA expired in 2007. With the ongoing TTIP, TPP, and TISA negotiations, the White House is pushing a renewal of the TPA.
