What Women in Trade Need to Know About Gender Bias to Lead at Your Best

The Professional Development Committee
of the Association of Women in International Trade

invites you to a discussion with

Beth Hand, CEO of Leadership Hand LLC

Women are powerhouses of performance and possibility. The business case is compelling: countries with higher levels of equality between men and women have higher economic growth. Women on boards mean higher returns, and peace agreements that include women are more successful. Increased women’s economic empowerment would add 5% to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the United States, 9% in Brazil and Japan, 11% in Italy, 12% in United Arab Emirates, and 27% in India.

It is an unequal world for women, whether they live in a developed or developing country. According to the U.S. Department of State, one in three will experience gender-based violence. Catalyst, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to expand opportunities for women in business, reports that only 4.6% of CEOs in S&P 500 companies are women, and that women in the U.S. earn 78 cents for every dollar a man earns.

How can women in trade who want to make a difference play bigger and more powerfully in the world, leading within their organizations or leading in their own businesses? What do you need to know about gender bias?

Join Beth Hand as she shares insights, inspiration, and practical answers to these questions. Her research shines a light on how gender bias can be a red herring that hides women and men, and reveals the hidden playing field. She’s developed five guidelines to help you lead at your best. For you, for women and men, boys and girls—for the world.
