Gizem Eras
Embassy of Canada in the USA

Gizem Eras joined the Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. in September 2017, as Agriculture and Fisheries Counsellor.  Prior to her assignment in D.C., Gizem was a Deputy Director at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and also worked at Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa, Canada, in various areas of trade policy, including in trade in goods and services, tariffs and non-tariff barriers, geographical indications and trade remedies.  Since 2005, Gizem has been involved in numerous free trade agreement negotiations, including the Canada-EU Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement (CETA), the Trans-Pacific Partnership (now the CPTPP) and the USMCA.  She also has private sector experience as an olive oil exporter.

 

  Luis Martinez Senties
Embassy of Mexico in the USA

Luis Martinez Senties is a native of Mexico City.  Since 2013 he is Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in Washington D.C.  Prior to his current position, in 2006 he was appointed Agricultural Envoy at the Mission of Mexico to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium, advocating for Mexico’s agricultural interests in E.U. countries, Russian Federation and Turkey.  Since 1999, Luis has been an official for the Ministry of Agriculture of Mexico (SAGARPA) at different Directorate level positions, heading national marketing and financing scheme programs for grains and pulses, covering agricultural policy and markets, and most recently international trade.  Luis has also represented Mexico in multilateral organizations related to food and agriculture cooperation, such as the OECD, WTO, FAO, OIE, UNECE and Codex Alimentarius.

 

Jesus Zorrilla Torras
Delegation of the European Union to the USA

Jesus Zorrilla Torras is a Spanish national and is Counselor for Agriculture in the EU delegation in Washington since September 2016.  From 2010 to 2016 he oversaw the market unit of wine, olive oil and fruits and vegetables in the Directorate of Agriculture in Brussels.  He joined the EU Commission in 1990 in the beef and sheep section; and worked during 15 years in international issues related to agriculture, including 5 years as EU delegate in the World Trade Organization, in Geneva.

 


Event will be followed by a wine and cheese tasting reception under the expert guidance of Ariane Radulski, Cheese Expert at Whole Foods Market.
