The Commercial Relationship with Asia and the Latest Developments in the Region

The Asia Pacific Section hosted a brown bag presentation by Craig Allen Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia, U.S. Department of Commerce Craig Allen will be providing his annual update on the U.S. commercial relationship with Asia. Recently returned from the APEC Forum 2013 in Bali, Indonesia and the 23rd ASEAN Summit 2013 in Brunei Darussalam, Craig Allen will provide an overview of recent commercial developments in the region, including ongoing negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and the other free trade initiatives in the region. He will also discuss China’s recent efforts to negotiate free trade agreements with ASEAN and other countries and to join or restart multilateral initiatives such as the Trade in Services Agreement and the Information Technology Agreement (ITA). Lunch will be provided.
