Oversees operation of the organization and serves as Chair of the Board. Presides over Officer and Board meetings. Represents WIIT at external functions. Introduces WIIT leaders and section leaders at signature events, WIIT-wides, and trade talks.

Supports the President in all functions, including attending signature WIIT-wide events. Substitutes for President or Secretary at Officer and Board meetings if necessary. Serves as liaison between WIIT Board and VP of Programming. After one year, the President-Elect becomes President.

Serves as the professional development coordinator. Oversees Professional Development committee, professional development programming, and the WIIT Mentor Program.  Also serves as liaison with the Organization for Women in International Trade (OWIT) Job Bank and Speakers Bureau.

Rowan Dougherty, Assistant Vice President for Mentoring

Sponsors events to help participants further their personal development and professional skills, with a view to helping them land jobs and advance in their careers. Events focus on everything from resumes to how to dress for success. Also provides opportunities to network with like-minded professionals, including through the use of social media and through a mentor program.

WIIT’s Mentor Program enables women to learn from others through partnerships and by further tapping into WIIT’s great professional network. Members say that an important benefit of joining WIIT (in addition to high-quality programs) is that it provides access to a network of professionals who possess valuable experience from which others can learn. We encourage anyone who would like to be a mentor (not a large time commitment) or a mentee to contact mentoring@wiit.org.

Organizes and coordinates WIIT’s signature social and fundraising events: Winter Gala and Silent Auction to benefit the WIIT Charitable Trust; International Women’s Day Celebration honoring women ambassadors to the United States; and the Annual Dinner and Awards ceremony.

Coordinates the WIIT website, social media, and newsletters. The newsletter provides summaries of past events, updates on current events, articles on international trade issues, and recognition of member achievements.

WIIT is always seeking submissions for its online newsletter on international trade topics, such as articles, book reviews, coverage of WIIT events, and summaries of recent developments in international trade that will be of interest to WIIT’s membership and the trade community.
